Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, chopped onion, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and pepper until thoroughly combined.
  • Form the mixture into patties about 1 inch thick.

Cooking

  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the patties on both sides for about 4-5 minutes per side.
  • Place the browned patties in a baking dish. Pour the beef broth over the patties and layer sliced mushrooms on top.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top if desired. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30-40 minutes until everything is bubbling and cooked through.

Serving

  • Serve hot alongside creamy mashed potatoes or a fresh green salad. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator or frozen for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw overnight and heat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes.
