Casserole Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef use lean ground beef for a healthier option
  • 4 cups potatoes, diced fresh potatoes work best for flavor
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups cheese (cheddar or your preference), shredded freshly shredded cheese is recommended
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • olive oil for cooking

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, drizzle olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the chopped onion and ground beef.
  • Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent.
  • Sprinkle in garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, mixing well.
  • In a large bowl, combine the diced potatoes with the beef mixture and add the milk.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden, and the potatoes are tender.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage. For best results, reheat in the oven.
