Frosting

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, and green food coloring.
  • Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  • Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with batter.

Baking

  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.

Notes

For best results, do not open the oven door during the first 15 minutes of baking. Letting the cupcakes cool completely is crucial for frosting.
